Greg’s Green Chile & Beans Recipe
These easy green chile beans use Santa Fe Seasons Red Chile Soup Base or Green Chile Soup Base to add bold New Mexico flavor without requiring a long list of seasonings. After a short soak, the beans cook in an Instant Pot until tender and flavorful.
Choose the red chile soup base for a deeper, earthier flavor or the green chile soup base for a brighter Hatch green chile taste. Serve the finished beans with cornbread, tacos, grilled meats or another Southwestern favorite.

Ingredients
- 1 cup beans
- 3 to 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons Santa Fe Seasons Red Chile Soup Base or Santa Fe Seasons Green Chile Soup Base
How to Make Green Chile Beans in an Instant Pot
- Place the beans in a bowl and cover them with water.
- Allow the beans to soak for two hours, then drain them.
- Add the drained beans, 3 cups of water and the chile soup base to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine.
- Secure the lid and cook on Manual or High Pressure for 80 minutes.
- Release the pressure according to the appliance manufacturer’s instructions.
- Check the beans for tenderness. If necessary, add a small amount of the remaining water to reach the desired consistency.
- Taste and serve warm.
